The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) on Tuesday (August 17, 2021) received a newly-refurbished M35 military truck from the Army’s 9th Forward Service Support Unit (9FSSU) at Headquarters, 9th Regional Community Defense Group (9RCDG), Kuta Dao, Pagadian City, making it more ready to serve the people it has sworn to protect.
Lt. Col. Eugene Lague, the Commanding Officer of the 9FSSU, handed over the M35 Truck to Cpt. Cornelio Cortejo Jr., the unit’s Acting Logistics Officer.
The M35 is a 2.5-ton, 6×6 cargo truck that was first used by the United States Army and has since been adopted by a number of countries, including the Philippines. Off-road, it can carry 5,000 pounds (2,300 kg) while on roadways, it can carry 10,000 pounds (4,500 kg).
