Davao trader found dead in river
MANILA – Police launched on Wednesday a murder investigation into the death of a businessman from Davao City who was found dead in Monkayo, Compostella Valley last week.
“Nakita siyang lumulutang, walang stab wound, gunshot wound, except sa tama sa ulo,” Monkayo police chief, Inspector Jerry Abrogina said.
According to Abrogina, Quijada was last seen on board his sports utility vehicle in Davao City on November 9. He allegedly told friends that he would visit an alias Nicco, his partner of three years.
Quijada’s Hyundai Santa Fe was allegedly abandoned by Nicco outside the house of his former girlfriend in a subdivision in Davao City.
Nicco, who has disappeared after the discovery of the victim’s body, is being considered a “person of interest.”
“Naka-sentro na doon sa person of interest dahil nga may lead. Ang sasakyan ng biktima ang inihatid n’ya… doon sa garahe ng isang bahay sa Davao City,” Abrogina said.
Police are also investigating the possible involvement of Nicco’s former girlfriend in the death of the businessman.
Investigators have yet to determine the motive of the crime. Quijada owned a rice business in Davao City and had financed a big casino in Manila. – abs-cbn news
