Trillanes IV faces grave threat rap

0

Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV is up for arraignment in the grave threat case filed against him before a Pasay court for allegedly threatening to kill Labor Undersecretary Jacinto Paras.

In a Dec. 14, 2018 order obtained by reporters yesterday, Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 47 Judge Joeven Dellosa ordered Trillanes’ arraignment on Feb. 15.

City prosecutor Reynaldo Ticyado filed the case against the senator on Nov. 29, 2018.

Paras, in the complaint filed in June last year, said he and Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III attended a hearing of the Senate’s oversight committee on overseas Filipino workers on May 29, 2018 when Trillanes made the threat.

“Ang lakas ng loob mo. Hindi magtatagal ang amo mo. Matatapos din yan. Yayariin kita. Mercenaryo ka. Yayariin kita (You’re gutsy. Your master won’t last. That will end. I will finish you. You’re a mercenary. I will finish you),” the charge sheet quoted Trillanes as saying.

Paras also alleged that Trillanes said, “Tatawa-tawa ka pa. May araw ka din. Yayariin kita (Go on, laugh. Your time will come. I will finish you).”

“Suwerte mo… mabait itong… secretary kundi yayariin kita (You’re lucky. This secretary is nice or I will finish you),” Trillanes reportedly also said.

Trillanes’ alleged statements created “fear and anxiety in the mind of (Paras) that the threats will be carried out,” according to the charge sheet.

‘Twisted’
Trillanes was unfazed by the latest criminal charges filed against him.

In a statement, the senator said President Duterte “twisted” the justice system in the country with the charges filed by Paras.

“He’s (Duterte) the one killing ordinary Filipinos, asking soldiers to rape women, asking that auditors of the COA (Commission on Audit) be kidnapped and tortured, bishops to be held up, and now I’m the one he asked his minions to be charged with grave threats? Insane,” Trillanes said.

“Like all the other harassment cases filed against me, I will face this squarely,” he added.

Paras and lawyer Manuelito Luna filed charges of inciting to sedition and conspiracy to commit coup d’etat before the Pasay prosecutor’s office.

The senator is also facing a libel case – filed by Duterte’s son, former Davao City vice mayor Paolo Duterte, and son-in-law Manases Carpio – before a Davao court.

A Makati court earlier upheld its issuance of a warrant for Trillanes’ arrest over a revived rebellion case in connection with his involvement in the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege. – With Paolo Romero

President Duterte has turned over an initial 50 housing units for the families of soldiers and policemen who were wounded in action.

Initial beneficiaries include the families of 35 soldiers and 15 policemen.

“I saw it with my own eyes. – the suffering and agony of a soldier of the Republic. And I thought that …we can make things easier for them. At least life a better, a bit comfortable,” Duterte said in the turnover ceremonies here on Thursday.

The President also announced that totally disabled uniformed personnel will get housing units as a full grant while partially disabled beneficiaries will only pay P225 monthly amortization instead of P625.

“I hope that this will go a long way to alleviate their situation,” he added.

The floor area of each housing unit is 24 square meters. The housing units are located in Pleasant View Residences Package 3 in Barangay Graceville in this city.

It has a total of 1,788 low-rise units on a 6.1863 hectares of land divided into three packages composed of 10 low-rise buildings for each package.

National Housing Authority general manager Marcelino Escalada said per instructions of the President, the floor area of the old design for soldier and police beneficiaries was too small.

“We decided to combine two units into one for all wounded soldiers, especially those who fought in Marawi,” Escalada said.

Sinabi ni Piñol sa isang forum na, “I’m the most vocal critic of this program of the government. [It] is spending P70 billion annually [for 4Ps], which is bigger than the budget of the DA. In fact, what I am saying is the 4Ps could actually be another program that could contribute to agricultural productivity if used properly. Instead of giving in forms dole-out every month, why don’t we start a livelihood program using that money?”

“People are not working anymore, and they are just waiting for their allowances,” Sinabi ni Piñol sa isang pakikipanayam sa mga reporters sa sidelines ng forum. “In fact, for years the 4Ps did not result in anything. Worse, the work force in the agriculture sector has been reduced because of it,” ayon pa kay Piñol.

“The gist of my proposal is that we should make use of the 4Ps fund for livelihood activities to increase greater food productivity,”

Anti-Duterte group posts fake news on Go

0

Former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Go laughed off a Tweet by the anti-Duterte group, GovPH (@AltGovPH), that he was on an Air Force chopper that supposedly crashed in Albay.

Go indeed visited Albay with President Duterte on Friday, where he distributed relief goods, particularly in Camarines Sur.

Responding to the tweet the anti-Duterte group made, Go said in jest: “Now, I am the ghost of Bong Go.”

A quick check of the image that GovPH used in its tweet, published at 7:51 a.m. Saturday, revealed that it was a screenshot of the November 22, 2018 chopper crash in Tarlac, which injured Coop-NATCCO Rep. Anthony Bravo and several others.

It was from an ABS-CBN report on the chopper crash involving Bravo.
