MRT-3 now capable of running 22 trains simultaneously

MANILA – The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) is now capable of running 22 trains along its mainline at the same time, an indication of improved service at the start of the new year.

In a message on Monday, MRT-3 Operations Director Michael Capati said the increase in operational trains began last Saturday.

Out of the 22 trains running simultaneously, 20 were CKD trains from the Czech Republic and two were Dalian from China.

The increase in running trains decreases the wait time between trains, would help the MRT-3 address the surge of commuters during rush hours, and increase its daily passenger capacity.

According to its daily operations report on Sunday, the MRT-3 has served a total of 79,520 passengers and recorded an average of 21 running trains at peak hours.

This, compared to a total of 72,465 passengers served with an average of 20 running trains on peak hours on December 31.

Earlier, the MRT-3 has also increased the average speed of its running trains to 60 kilometers per hour (km/h) since December 7 from the previous average speed of 50 km/h.

Since the increase in speed, the MRT-3 said the average wait time between trains is now 3.5 to 4 minutes. (PNA)

Lubos po tayong nagpapasalamat sa Pangulong Duterte sa paglagda sa “Doktor Para sa Bayan Act” na isa sa mga naging adbokasiya ng inyong lingkod bilang co-author nito sa 18th Congress.

Layon ng batas na ito na mabigyang-pagkakataon ang mga kapos-palad ngunit magagaling na estudyante upang maging doktor sa pamamagitan ng scholarship. Madadagdagan din ang bilang ng mga doktor na maglilingkod sa ating mga kababayan sa mga mahihirap o malalayong lugar.

Sa Taguig ay Priority Course ang Medicine kaya pinakamataas ang Scholarship na inilalaan para sa mga scholars ng Lungsod na nais maging doktor. Ngayong ganap na itong batas, hindi na lamang Medicine Students ng Taguig ang makatatanggap ng tulong sa kursong ito na bukod sa napakahirap na, ay napakamahal pa.

Napapanahon ang pagpasa ng batas na ito dahil malinaw nating nakita ang kahalagahan ng mga doktor lalo na sa kinakaharap nating pandemya.

Davao City inaugurated the temporary residential for CPP-NPA who have returned to the fold of the law

The Davao City government has inaugurated the newly-completed temporary residential facility for the communist New People’s Army (NPA) rebels who have returned to the fold of the law.

Called the Kalinaw Village, the residential facility located in Brgy. Mahayag, Bunawan District, will serve as the temporary home for the ex-cadres while undergoing transitional activities before they re-integrate into their community and families.

In her message, Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte hoped that the Kalinaw Village would be instrumental in the former rebels’ transition to a better future.

“May this home lives up to its name and serve its purpose, and that all who come here may be motivated and empowered to improve their lives, and develop their skills to make a better future for themselves and families – to find kalinaw padulong sa hayag nga kaugmaon (to find light towards a bright future,) she said.

Mayor Sara also thanked the city government’s partners for making the project possible. They are the Peace 911 and its partner agencies, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Bongbong Marcos to sue Rappler for libel

FORMER senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will file a libel suit against news website Rappler over its report alleging that he approached the highly-scrutinized political data company Cambridge Analytica to rebrand the Marcos Family’s image on social media.

Marcos claimed that Rappler was “peddling lies and fake news” against the Marcos family and a libel case was “on the table.”

A statement by lawyer Vic Rodriguez, spokesman for the young Marcos, stated that Rappler has again resorted to peddling lies and fake news against his family in its vain attempt to dilute the serious credibility issue that has corrupted its worthiness instead of changing their ways and adhering to the fundamental tenets of fair journalism and balanced news reporting.

The Rodriguez statement follows:

“The news story published by Rappler on July 15, 2020, on its website claiming that former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. approached then Cambridge Analytica is patently fake, false, and misleading.

“Former senator Marcos never reached out to them and, like most of us, was only made aware of Cambridge Analytica’s existence through reports of its controversial activities in the media.

“This move by Rappler to besmirch the former senator’s and the Marcos family’s reputation speaks to the kind of insidious reporting espoused by its convicted founder Maria Ressa.

“The timing of this news story is nothing more than a marketing ploy meant to drum up support for their beleaguered news blog site.”

Rodriguez said Marcos was consulting with his legal team to fight the injustice. “The filing of libel charges is on the table,” he said.

In the Rappler report, former Cambridge Analytica employee-turned-whistleblower Brittany Kaiser revealed to Executive Editor Maria Ressa that Marcos had approached the highly-scrutinized political data company Cambridge Analytica to “rebrand” the Marcos family’s image on social media.

The interview on “Rappler Talk” was aired on July 15.
