Permanenting Tirahan, Funeral at Hospital Expenses, sasagutin ni Pang. Duterte para sa mga biktima ng landslide

1

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday, September 21, vowed to help the victims of the massive landslide in the City of Naga, Cebu, saying he will shoulder the hospitalization and burial expenses of families affected.

“Mangita ko’g kwarta. Ako nay mupalubong sa tanang namatay. Ako nay mugasto. Akoy mubayad sa hospital kung di na mubayad ang mga minahan (I will look for money. I will shoulder the burial and hospitalization expenses if the mining companies will not pay them),” he told the evacuees staying at the East Poblacion Barangay Hall in Naga.

Duterte personally went to Naga on Friday to check on the condition of individuals whose homes were buried after a portion of a mountain collapsed in Sitio Sindulan, Barangay Tina-an and Barangay Naalad.

As of 5 p.m. Friday, September 21, at least 33 people were confirmed dead, while nine were injured in the landslide. Search and rescue operations continue for several others believed to have been trapped in the rubble.

Duterte told the evacuees that they cannot go back to the area, which was earlier declared landslide-prone, but they will be relocated to a safer place.

“Ang mayor (Kristine Chiong) mismo dili na musugot nga mubalhin mo didto. Ang inyong gobernador niingo’g delikado. So si General [Roy] Cimatu ug si General [Eduardo] Año ingon sila nga, ‘Dili na gyud na sila makabalik.’ Dili tungod nga gusto nilang samuk-samukon inyong kinabuhi kung dili para matagaan mo’g proteksyon,” he said.

(Your mayor herself doesn’t want you to go back. Your governor said it’s dangerous. General Cimatu and Año also said that you cannot go back to the area. This is not to make your lives worse, but to protect you).

He said City of Naga Mayor Kristine Chiong and Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III are already talking about the relocation.

The government has identified a lot owned by the Provincial Government and located less than a kilometer from Sitio Tina-an in Naga as possible relocation site.

“Paanhion nako si (Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council chairman) General (Eduardo) Del Rosario. Siya man to akong gitahasan nga maghimo’g balay-balay o cottage sa Marawi…Ingon una lang ang akong mahatag sa inyo…Basta may kapuy-an, may atop, may balay,” he told the evacuees.

(I will ask HUDCC Chairman General Eduardo del Rosario to come here. He was the one tasked to build cottages in Marawi…I can give you those types of houses…The size doesn’t matter as long as you have a place to live in).

Duterte asked the victims to keep their faith in God, saying they cannot do anything but accept what happened to those who died in the landslide.

“Ibutang nato atong faith sa Ginoo. Wa na man gyud tay mahimo. Naa na man na…Ang ginoo ray kahibaw kung kanus-a ta mamatay. Kadtong atong mga kaigsuonan intawon, wa to sila kahibaw nga tapos na sila anang adlawa,” he said.

(Let us put our faith in God. We can’t do anything. It already happened…Only God who knows the day we will die. Those who passed away, perhaps they don’t know that their lives are going to end that day).

The families affected by the landslide in Naga pointed at the quarrying operations of Apo Land Quarry Corp. as the possible cause of the landslide. Cracks were found in some parts of Sitio Tagaytay in Barangay Tina-an before the tragedy Thursday, September 20.

Duterte told the victims that he will work to stop mining in the country before he steps down from office.

“Ibawal nato na. That’s the only way nga akong buhaton una ko munaog pagkatrabahante sa gobyerno (We will prohibit mining. I will make that happen before I step down from office),” he said.

Pangulong Duterte magbibigay ng libreng Tirahan para sa mga biktima ng Landslide sa Cebu

CITY OF NAGA, Cebu — President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday night visited some of the evacuees affected by last Thursday’s landslide here and pledged to provide them permanent housing through the National Housing Authority.

The President, in his visit to one of the five centers, told the evacuees that they will be relocated to a safer place as he forbade them from returning to the landslide-prone area in Barangay Tinaan.

He also promised to shoulder the hospitalization of the wounded victims and burial expenses of the 29 fatalities.

As of 2:45 p.m. Friday, 897 families and 2,836 individuals have been displaced because of the landslide. They are now spread throughout five evacuation centers in Naga.

The number of injured was placed at 15 while 50 people have been reported missing.

Although, nothing was said of the possible relocation site, Naga Mayor Kristine Vanessa Chiong reportedly proposed the Balili property.

The Chief Executive also dropped by at the badminton gym of this city to visit the mass wake of all those who perished in the disaster.

Duterte expressed his sympathy to the victims and occasionally cracked jokes, which brought laughter to the evacuees at the Enan Chiong Activity Center, letting them momentarily forget the tragic incident.

“I know how difficult the situation you are in right now and I’m sad because of the incident,” the President told the evacuees in Bisaya. “This is why I’m against mining.”

He advised every Filipino residing in the mountainside near any mining site not to be complacent in times of weather disturbances, as life is more important than livelihood.

The site of the massive landslide is near the Apo Land and Quarry Corp.

Duterte said if any of the military, police, governor, or mayor orders an evacuation of a certain area, the public should heed the call because it is for their good.

He said he has ordered Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu to assess the situation in Naga and re-evaluate all mining and quarrying operations in the country.

According to the President, Cimatu told him that a forced evacuation of residents within the 1-km. radius of ground zero in this city must be enforced.
“This is not to disturb your lives, but to give you protection, in simple words, from death. That’s their (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) job,” Duterte said.

Meanwhile, Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III said he has also issued a cease and desist order to all mining and quarrying operations in the entire province.

Davide, who welcomed the President together with Mayor Chiong upon his arrival, also called for an inquiry into the tragedy.

Bam Aquino the ‘idiots among idiots – De La Salle Professor Van Ybiernas

De La Salle University (DLSU) professor Van Ybiernas recently took to the popular social media site in order to shoot hits towards Senator Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV and his comments towards the TRAIN law that is one of the landmark policies of the Duterte administration.

Ybiernas claims that the Senator said that the excise tax put upon oil brought about by the TRAIN law should be forfeited as it has garnered some unintended consequences.

Cutting off or removing the excise tax, Ybiernas says, is Aquino making decisions blindly.

“Patunayan muna na long term ang adverse effect ng excise tax sa inflation bago magdesisyon. Masyadong rash ang decision making ni Aquino, which is a poor leadership trait,” says Ybiernas.

The last thing Ybiernas said is that TRAIN law is bound to have some unintended consequences, as does most laws that aim to change something. He likens this to the act of renovating a home where in order to beautify a certain area, there needs to be come changes that involves ruining some things that existed in place.

Ending this analogy, Ybiernas said that because of these comments from Aquino, if anyone plans to renovate a house or the government, they should not call Bam Aquino.

More proof that Bam Aquino is an idiot among idiots.

May unintended consequence daw ang Train Law kaya dapat bawiin na ang excise tax sa langis At ang unintended consequence nga ay inflation.

“NAKAKABOBO MAKINIG KAY BAM AQUINO, IN FAIRNESS…”

Pres. Duterte, magpapatayo ng Evacuation Centers upang ma-minimize ang paggamit ng mga paaralan

0

President Duterte has ordered the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to build more evacuation centers to minimize the use of classrooms so the flow of students’ education will not be disturbed.

“We’d also like to reiterate our proposal, Mr. President, that perhaps we can minimize the use of the school buildings as evacuation centers. Because the children have to make do with temporary learning shelters which of course exposes them to greater risks,” Briones said.Duterte, in his meeting with key agencies in preparation for Typhoon Ompong, agreed with Education Secretary Leonor Briones that the education of students are compromised whenever their classrooms are used as shelter for evacuees.

Duterte, in response, ordered NDRRMC Executive Director Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad to build more evacuation centers so the use of classrooms would be minimized.

“It’s about time that General Jalad thinks of this. ‘Yun talagang mga frontliners na lugar (Those areas that are at the front line): Leyte, Samar, itong Cagayan, Isabela,” Duterte said.

“Makagawa man lang tayo parang gym puro semento. Oo, parang (For us to make something like a gym built from cement, a) gym with so many perhaps 10 CRs for women and 10 [for men],” he added.

“Kailangan talaga ‘yan (We really need those). And so calamities are our way. Sunog, baha (fires, floods), fighting in some areas. Pag-isipan mo daw ‘yan (Think about it) then give me a position paper and I will work on it for the budget,” he continued.

Duterte then reiterated his concern about students having a hard time catching up with their studies whenever schools are used as evacuation centers.

He also agreed with Briones that children are exposed to greater risks when they have to make do with temporary learning shelters.

“The longer they stay in the school, the longer would be the disturbance of the education of the children,” Duterte said.

Jalad, on the other hand, said that there is already an ongoing project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to build more evacuation centers.

“We might just have to you know, rethink the concept sir because actually there are already many evacuation centers inaugurated lately under the project of the DPWH,” Jalad said.

“At saka siguro dagdagan ‘yung budget sir kasi currently ang (And maybe we can also increase the budget because the budget of the) DPWH for that is three evacuation centers per region,” he added.

Duterte commended the development about the evacuation center project of the government.

“That’s good. That’s actually using our head. Kasi (Because) everytime that there is a crisis, automatically kasali ‘yung mga bata na walang pakialam (innocent children are affected),” he said.

“And it really causes a disturbance sa flow ng (in the flow of their) education,” he added.
